The symposium on the life and thought of former CPC General Secretary Jiang Zemin was held in Beijing from Monday to Wednesday.
The symposium was hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Party School of the CPC Central Committee (National Academy of Governance), the Party History and Literature Research Institute of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Education, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission. Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.
Cai Qi emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the Conference Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Jiang Zemin’s Birth, to inherit and carry forward Jiang Zemin’s brilliant thought and noble character, to deepen research on the Important Thought of the 'Three Represents' in the new era, to strengthen confidence, continue striving, maintain rigorous scholarship and seek truth and innovation, and make new and greater contributions to advancing the building of a strong country and the great cause of national rejuvenation through Chinese-style modernization.
Cai Qi said that to deepen research on the Important Thought of the 'Three Represents', we must further deepen our understanding of the extreme importance of upholding the Party’s comprehensive leadership, always adhere to the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee, more profoundly understand the decisive significance of the 'Two Establishes', and resolutely achieve the 'Two Safeguards'; further deepen our understanding of the theoretical quality of Marxism keeping pace with the times, always uphold the 'Two Integrations', and continuously advance the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism; further deepen our understanding of the laws of socialist construction, always remain firm in the 'Four Confidences', and promote the building of a strong country and the great cause of national rejuvenation through Chinese-style modernization.
He pointed out the need to further deepen our understanding that development is the Party’s top priority in governance and national revitalization, always adhere to the people-centered development philosophy, and unswervingly promote high-quality development; further deepen our understanding of the progressive direction of advanced culture, always uphold the cultural subjectivity of the Chinese nation, and promote the prosperity and flourishing of socialist culture with firm cultural confidence; further deepen our understanding of world multipolarity and economic globalization, always adhere to the path of peaceful development, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind; further deepen our understanding that the Party must be governed before the country can be governed, and the Party must be governed strictly, persistently and comprehensively promote strict Party governance, and advance the new great project of Party building in the new era.
Li Shulei, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department, presided over the meeting. Shi Taifeng, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Organization Department, Liu Guozhong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, Zhang Shengmin, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, Qu Qingshan, head of the Party History and Literature Research Institute of the CPC Central Committee, and Xin Changxing, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, spoke successively.
Peng Qinghua, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Wang Dongfeng, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the meeting.
About 500 participants, including relevant officials and representatives of experts and scholars, attended the symposium.
