SEKAI NO OWARI Returns to Malaysia After 10 Years, Vocalist Fukase Hyped Up the Crowd

Japan's popular band SEKAI NO OWARI returned to Malaysia after a 10-year hiatus, holding the Kuala Lumpur stop of their "SEKAI NO OWARI ASIA TOUR 2025 'Phoenix'" at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on the night of the 8th, attracting a large crowd of fans. As soon as vocalist Fukase took the stage, he shouted, "Jump!" and instantly ignited the audience, sending fans into a frenzy. DJ LOVE, even more excited, shouted, "Malaysia Memang Best!" (Malaysia is indeed the best!) in Malay, and the crowd's screams rose and fell, pushing the atmosphere to its peak.

Formed 15 years ago, SEKAI NO OWARI consists of lead vocalist Fukase, guitarist and band leader Nakajin, pianist Saori, and DJ LOVE. This tour is themed “Phoenix,” symbolizing rebirth from the ashes. Fukase said that the band's works often center on “rebirth” and “hope.” Through the combination of music and stage visuals, this tour aims to let fans feel the spiritual power behind their creations.

The performance began in darkness as visual artist Shohei Takasaki improvised a painting live on a giant white canvas, after which the band members took the stage one after another. Saori and Nakajin then performed a four-hand piano duet to open with "Utopia." This was followed by "Dropout," which sent the venue into an uproar, with Fukase again shouting “Jump!” to get the entire audience bouncing, causing the atmosphere to explode.

During the nearly two-hour concert, the band performed almost 20 hit songs, including "RPG," "Earth Child," "The Peak," "RAIN," and more. The stage and lighting intertwined to create a dreamlike scene, while Shohei's live improvisational artwork from start to finish became a highlight, perfectly merging art and music.

Returning to Malaysia after 10 years, all four members took turns interacting with the fans, frequently expressing their thanks with "Terima Kasih!". DJ LOVE was the first to greet everyone, shouting: "Malaysia Memang Best! Long time no see, welcome to the 'Phoenix' concert, are you having fun?" which sparked a warm response from the crowd.

Fukase also laughed and said, "Long time no see! It's already been 10 years!" He recalled that during their first visit to Malaysia, he performed wearing a thick heavy coat. "Back then I was very stubborn, but now (lifting his shirt) I finally wore something lighter!" causing the crowd to burst into laughter. Saori playfully asked, "Is anyone seeing us for the second time?" When she saw a fan raise their hand, she smiled brightly and thanked the audience with "Terima Kasih," expressing how happy she was to be back in Malaysia.

During the encore, the entire audience spontaneously sang "Starlight Parade," creating a touching and heartwarming scene. Afterwards, the four members returned to the stage in tour T-shirts and pushed the excitement to its peak with "Fight Music." In the end, all members bowed deeply at a 90-degree angle, drawing the Kuala Lumpur stop to a passionate and warm close.
