Iranian Foreign Minister Arrives in Geneva, Refutes US Accusation of 'Long-Range Missiles'

Iranian Foreign Minister Aragchi arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 25th to prepare for the third round of indirect talks with US representatives regarding Iran's nuclear program the following day.

The Iranian delegation led by Aragchi is scheduled to hold indirect meetings on the 26th with US President Trump’s envoy, Whitcoff, and son-in-law Kushner, with Oman continuing to mediate and relay messages.

In addition, Aragchi, in an interview with The Times of India on the same day, refuted US claims that Iran is developing long-range missiles capable of reaching the United States.

He stated that Iran has limited its missile range to within 2,000 kilometers.

He pointed out that the claim Iran is developing long-range missiles capable of reaching the United States is "fake news" and that Trump is a victim of "fake news". Iran has deliberately limited its missile range to within 2,000 kilometers; these missiles are purely for defense and deterrence, not to pose a global threat.

He said Iran's missile program aims to safeguard national security and cited the war in June last year as an example, explaining that Iran was acting in self-defense at the time.

He accused Israel and the United States of inciting war, adding that Israel is the only country in the region seeking conflict. Iran will continue to maintain its defensive capabilities.

Aragchi said Iran believes US policy is based on misunderstandings and external influences, rather than being the result of direct dialogue with Iran.

On the 24th, US President Trump, in his State of the Union address, stated that Iran has already developed missiles capable of threatening Europe and US overseas bases, and is developing missiles that could soon reach the United States.
