The results of the Negeri Sembilan state election will be gradually revealed on Saturday night. The police have already stepped up security measures at key locations in the state, including the Negeri Sembilan Ruler’s Palace, to prevent any unpleasant incidents after the election.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar stated that it is not ruled out that certain individuals dissatisfied with the election outcome may attempt to incite friction or conflict among supporters.
He said that if there is a change of government following the election, or if any political party feels discontent over winning or losing, it could spark hostile sentiments, which is one of the risks police are closely monitoring.
"Therefore, the police have strengthened security deployments at important locations, especially at the state government offices and the Negeri Sembilan Ruler’s Palace, to ensure the post-election situation remains under control."
Khalid made these remarks on Saturday after inspecting the George V Secondary School polling station in Seremban, accompanied by acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ibrahim, Director of the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department Datuk Seri Yusri, Negeri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Azafny, and other police officers.
He also called on all political party supporters to remain disciplined, comply with law enforcement instructions, work together to maintain social order, and avoid any incidents that could affect public safety.
