(Seria, 18th) Recently, multiple restaurants in Brunei have consecutively fallen victim to telephone "fake order" scams. The fraudsters claim to be "Xu Xuewen" and use the phone number (+601137810650) to impersonate the nephew of Xu Yuelan, Principal of Chung Hwa Middle School, Brunei. They falsely claim to order banquet tables or meal boxes for meetings or events, luring restaurants into preparing large quantities of specific dishes or ingredients to carry out the scam.
To avoid unnecessary losses and while maintaining the reputation of the school and the interests of businesses, Chung Hwa Middle School has used the press to call on local F&B businesses to remain vigilant and carefully verify order authenticity.
The school authorities remind business owners that upon receiving a meal order via phone, they should confirm the caller's identity through official channels and reject any form of advance payment request. Do not lower your guard due to the temptation of a "large order."
In addition, if local F&B businesses or merchants encounter such suspicious situations, please be sure to preserve all evidence and report to the police immediately, aiding law enforcement in combating such scams.
