(Kuching, 11th) Renowned Sarawak singer Hafiz Suip's mother passed away last night after suffering from long-term diabetes, leaving him deeply saddened.
Hafiz shared the news of his mother’s passing on his Facebook account, writing: “Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return), I have lost my mother's prayers.” His words were filled with sorrow.
The late mother, Halizawati Mohd Salleh, was 60 years old. It is reported that she had suffered from severe diabetes for a long time, and several months ago, due to the worsening of her illness, had to have her left leg amputated up to the knee.
A few days ago, as her condition relapsed, she was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (Hospital Umum Sarawak), and passed away at around 9:40pm that night in the hospital.
The remains were buried this morning at Semariang Muslim Cemetery.
It is worth mentioning that during the “Di Sebalik Aku: Hafiz Suip” concert held at the Megastar Arena on the 1st of this month, Hafiz's mother made a surprise appearance on stage in a wheelchair with her husband, Mohd Suip Mohamad, moving the entire audience.
In that heartwarming moment, Hafiz sincerely expressed that he would become his mother’s “legs,” accompanying and protecting her with his actions.
