The Anti-Corruption Commission has summoned 15 individuals, including 8 Sabah state councilors and an informant, to record statements to assist in investigating a video exposing a corruption scandal involving Sabah state councilors.
NACCC Chairman Tan Sri Azam Baki pointed out that all the statements were completed last Saturday.
He said, as of yesterday, the informant still refuses to present any evidence because he is requesting immunity to avoid any prosecution.
In addition, he mentioned that the commission also received a report against the informant, alleging that he colluded with a Sabah state government official on a mining issue.
“Therefore, we are currently conducting a fair and professional investigation into both cases.”
He said this to reporters after attending the closing ceremony of International Anti-Corruption Day yesterday.
Previously, media reported that the commission confirmed the informant met with commission officials on October 30.
It is known that during the meeting, the informant's lawyer only played a 17-second recording where several people were discussing monetary matters.
Azam Baki urged the informant to formally report to the commission to initiate protection procedures under the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010.
