37-year-old actress Zhao Liying has a beloved son "Xiangxiang" with her ex-husband Feng Shaofeng. Their marriage lasted only three years before they divorced in 2021. Recently, Zhao Liying was rumored to be in a relationship with Taiwanese director Midi Z, and the news immediately became a hot topic in the entertainment industry. Netizens quickly dug into Midi Z's history and past rumors, discovering that he is not only a capable director but also has a background of being "born in Myanmar and developed his career in Taiwan."

42-year-old Midi Z is an ethnic Chinese from Myanmar. He moved to Taiwan at the age of 16 to pursue his studies and earned both a master's and bachelor's degree in design from Taiwan Tech. He is one of the few directors in the Taiwan film industry who hails from Myanmar and often uses Taiwan and Myanmar as filming subjects. In early 2017, after completing the promotion for "The Road to Mandalay," Midi Z returned to his hometown in Myanmar to visit his mother. At that time, he met Wang Xinghong, who was planning to become a monk in the rural areas of central Myanmar. Midi Z accompanied him to the Myanmar countryside and thus completed the documentary "14 Apples." In 2018, "14 Apples" was selected for the Berlin International Film Festival, marking Midi Z's third selection for the festival.

After the rumors about Midi Z and Zhao Liying emerged, the public became curious about how they met. Reportedly, the two became acquainted and gradually developed feelings during the filming of the movie "Qiaoyan's Story." Although neither side has publicly responded, they have been photographed together multiple times by Chinese media, displaying intimate behavior. It was revealed that Midi Z has been spending a lot of time at Zhao Liying's home, staying late into the night before returning to his place alone. There are also reports of him holding Zhao Liying's residential community keycard and taking her son "Xiangxiang" out alone, solidifying the rumors of their relationship.

Interestingly, Midi Z has previously collaborated with actress Wu Ke-xi on four occasions, and they were once rumored to have an ambiguous relationship. Wu Ke-xi starred in several of his works such as "Poor Folk," "Ice Poison," "The Road to Mandalay," and "Nina Wu," and is almost considered the "muse" of Midi Z's films. However, neither party has ever directly addressed the rumors. Now that Midi Z's relationship with Zhao Liying has come to light, the so-called "muse" relationship is once again being discussed.
