Unwilling to Endorse White House Rhetoric for War, US Intelligence Chief Says: Iran Has Not Rebuilt Uranium Enrichment Capability

On the 18th, US National Intelligence Director Gabard stated that after the US bombed Iran's nuclear facilities in June last year, Iran has not attempted to rebuild its uranium enrichment capability.

She refused to comment on whether Iran's nuclear program posed an imminent threat to the United States.

Gabard argued that judging what constitutes an imminent threat is not the responsibility of the intelligence community; the only person who can make that determination is the President.

An NBC News report pointed out that this appears to contradict the White House's stated reasons for going to war with Iran.

Senior US officials had previously claimed that the joint large-scale military operation with Israel against Iran was launched because Iran was on the verge of initiating an attack, necessitating a "preemptive strike." However, since the outbreak of the conflict, the US government has offered contradictory explanations for its military actions against Iran, sparking domestic and international skepticism.
