Astro Classic Songs Contestants Stun with Vocals, Nancy Sit Forgets to Score

《Astro Classic Songs Singing Competition 2025》will be making a glorious debut on the 19th! Marking its 25th edition, this milestone year brings a brand new competition format, an all-star lineup of judges, and an innovative 'Bootcamp' challenge, promising Malaysian audiences a gala filled with dreams, talent, and heartfelt moments.

Sponsored mainly by Mah Sing Group, the show continues to be hosted by familiar faces Gan Jiang Han and Winnie Onn, who will guide viewers on the path to glory alongside the show's powerful vocalists. The production team traveled across the northern, southern, and central regions of Malaysia, holding a total of four audition sessions that attracted over 400 singing enthusiasts aged 35 and above. After multiple rounds of screening, the final list of 20 outstanding contestants will be officially revealed on the show.

This year's contest continues the previous year's division, with contestants split into the 'Senior Group' and the 'Junior Group.' Team leaders Crystal Ong and Xiao Weiwei will lead their members through challenges, competing for the title of Glory Team this season. The competition format has been fully upgraded, introducing for the first time a 3-day 2-night 'Outdoor Bootcamp' challenge. Contestants must complete multiple tasks, testing not only their vocal ability but also their endurance, psychological strength, and teamwork skills.

This year's judging panel is also star-studded: alongside the 'Classic Iron Triangle' member Guo Yanyan, the show welcomes Nancy Sit as a resident judge, bringing an international perspective and professional feedback to the contestants. In addition, every episode will feature different 'guest judges,' including 'Pink Tank' Vicky Fong, 2023 Astro Classic Songs champion Zeng Guohui, 2015 champion Wu Weilin, veteran musician Zheng Guoliang, innovative pop music educator Huang Fanshuo, Malaysia's premier jazz diva He Yun Ni, as well as local host and movie producer Lin Zhongbiao. This professional yet entertaining lineup not only increases the show's appeal, but also gives contestants invaluable real-world experience.

At the press conference on June 30, Nancy Sit highly praised the contestants' vocal performances. She shared: "For a program to run for 25 consecutive years, it shows how successful it is. This time, seeing the dedication and effort of the contestants in person was truly remarkable!" Guo Yanyan joked that Nancy Sit was so immersed in the contestants' singing that she actually forgot to score twice. She also expressed her joy at serving as a judge alongside her idol Nancy Sit, saying it was her biggest surprise this year. She reflected that after being involved with the show for 20 years, this stage holds both memories and meaning: "Every contestant who gets on stage in the past 25 years has chased and realized their dreams. Their hard work and perseverance compose their own life stories and convey tremendous vitality. Every year brings new emotions, and in recent years, the stage is more dynamic than ever!"
