(Kuching, 27th) A representative from a Japanese consulting firm noted that, following Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari’s receipt of Japan’s 'Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star,' Sarawak has become a primary focus for several major Japanese conglomerates, especially in the field of renewable energy.
Yamada Consulting & Spire (Y&S) Executive Director for ASEAN and Indian Market, Go Sakano, stated yesterday at the press conference for the '2025 Yamada International Renewable Energy Investment Forum' held here: 'We understand that Sarawak is actively developing renewable energy in the region. Sarawak is in a leading position in this regard, and also possesses the investment environment required by Japanese companies.'
He said: 'Policy stability is one of the key factors Japanese companies consider when deciding on investment locations.'
In his statement, he pointed out that the Premier’s vision to make Sarawak a major green energy exporter by 2035 has brought exciting opportunities to the many representatives attending this forum.
This forum attracted representatives from several renowned companies, including Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Toho Gas, Sojitz Corporation, Tokyo Power Technology Co Ltd, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, as well as Dans Energy from India.
The forum also featured a keynote speech by the Sarawak Premier, thematic panel discussions, and opportunities for exchanges and discussions with key representatives from the Sarawak state government, international investment institutions, and technology developers.
