In the army procurement tender corruption case, the former army commander-in-chief’s detention extension order will expire tomorrow. When asked, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said that the authorities have not yet decided whether to continue applying for an extension of the detention order.
Azam Baki stated that he must confirm with his investigating officer whether one more day is sufficient to complete the investigation.
As for the seriousness of the case, he said: "You only need to imagine the involved person's military rank to know how serious this case is."
“It is indeed very serious.”
As to whether more officials will be summoned, he said that this will be explained during a press conference on the 15th.
Azam Baki made these remarks today (13th) to the media after attending and signing a memorandum of understanding with Datuk Chan Teck Hong, founder of HELP University Group.
Similarly, regarding the former minister’s corruption case, he said it will also be clarified on the 15th.
“The investigation of this case is still ongoing, but I cannot disclose the minister’s name.”
