(Gaza, 9th) The Gaza health authorities issued a statement on the 8th saying that since the new round of Israel-Palestine conflict broke out on October 7, 2023, Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip have caused the cumulative death toll to exceed 69,000.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the statement said that Israel launched an attack on civilians in central Gaza on the same day, resulting in 1 death. In the past 72 hours, hospitals across Gaza have received 10 bodies, including 1 person killed in an Israeli airstrike and 9 bodies recovered from under the rubble.
Earlier the same day, Gaza health authorities announced that they had received 15 bodies of Palestinians handed over by Israel through the International Committee of the Red Cross. As of now, the total number of bodies handed over by Israel has reached 300.
Since the ceasefire first-phase agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) took effect on October 10, the Israeli army has still launched attacks from time to time on security grounds. Reports from the Gaza health authorities show that since the ceasefire took effect, there have been 241 new deaths and 614 injuries in the area. Although both sides have accused each other of violating the agreement's terms, the handover of bodies under the framework of the agreement is still ongoing.
