(Bandar Seri Begawan, 12th Jan) United States Department of State's Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons Deputy Director Terri visited Brunei from January 8th to 10th to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in combating human trafficking.
According to a press release from the U.S. Embassy in Brunei, Terri's visit coincides with the United States 'National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.' The month is designated by a Presidential proclamation, aimed at raising awareness of human trafficking and educating the public on how to identify and prevent such crimes.
During the visit, Terri met with government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for combating human trafficking, including enhancing law enforcement efforts, improving victim identification and protection, and strengthening preventive measures.
The embassy stated that the United States remains committed to working with Brunei and other partners to address this significant global challenge.
