During China's National Day holiday, massive traffic jams occurred, and some of the people stuck in traffic got out of their vehicles to go fishing or play badminton. Videos of these activities, once uploaded to social media, quickly went viral.
According to footage circulating online, one man got out of his car during a highway jam. Since there was a river below that section of road, he leisurely took a fishing rod out of his car trunk and started casting from beside the guardrail, attracting quite a crowd of onlookers.
Within about three minutes, the man caught a big fish, drawing envious looks from nearby people.
According to Jimu News, the person who posted the video told reporters that she was on her way back to her hometown at the time when she got stuck in a jam for 30 to 40 minutes on the G25 Changshen Expressway in Liyang City, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. Many other drivers got out to stretch their legs.
She noticed a driver in front of her taking out a fishing rod and decided to film him fishing. She was shocked when, in about three minutes, he managed to catch a big fish.
Jimu News also interviewed the man fishing, Mr. Qiu, who said he usually enjoys fishing. He was on his way back to his hometown and, with nothing to do during the jam, thought he'd spend the time fishing. However, he didn’t take the fish with him; he ended up giving it to someone at the roadside.
In addition, another netizen casually filmed a video of a man and a woman getting out of their car to play badminton, and unexpectedly, that video also went viral online. The pair did this simply because the traffic jam was too long, so they got out and started playing badminton in the middle of the road.
