(Hong Kong 11th) The National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police announced on the 10th that a prohibitory action has been taken against the mobile game 'Reversed Front: Fong Huo' because its purpose is to promote 'Taiwan independence', 'Hong Kong independence', and advocate armed revolution to overthrow China. Citizens are reminded not to download or fund the App, as it would violate the National Security Law.
'Reversed Front: Fong Huo' is a mobile game developed by Taiwan's ESC team. The 'Reversed Front' Facebook fan page responded in the evening: 'Thank the Chancellor for the arrows.' Some Hong Kong netizens uploaded screenshots showing that after the police issued the ban, the search volume for 'Reversed Front' surged.
According to Hong Kong media Sing Tao Network, the National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police on the 10th reminded citizens not to download an application called 'Reversed Front: Fong Huo' or fund the application's developer to engage in activities harmful to national security. With the approval of the Secretary for Security, the National Security Department has taken prohibitory actions regarding the electronic communications of 'Reversed Front: Fong Huo' according to Schedule 4 of the implementation rules of Article 43 of the Hong Kong National Security Law.
The Hong Kong Police stated that 'Reversed Front: Fong Huo' is marketed as a game, but its purpose is to promote 'Taiwan independence', 'Hong Kong independence', and other stances that aim to split the country, advocate armed revolution, overthrow the fundamental system established by the Constitution of the People's Republic of China, and incite hatred against the central and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region governments.
The police also stated that anyone or organization that knowingly releases the application or related content, including sharing or recommending the application to others via the internet, could violate Article 21 'Inciting to Split the Country' or Article 23 'Inciting to Subvert State Power' of the Hong Kong National Security Law, as well as Article 24 'Offenses with Incitement Intent' of the 'National Security Maintenance Ordinance'.
The police further noted that those who download the application may also be seen as possessing publications with incitement intent. According to Article 24 of the 'National Security Maintenance Ordinance', anyone who possesses such publications without reasonable excuse is committing a crime. Providing money or other property to the application developer, including paying money through the application, intending to support the developer's actions to split the country or subvert state power, is also a crime.
The National Security Department of Hong Kong concluded that activities and actions that endanger national security are extremely serious crimes, and the police will enforce the law strictly and pursue legal responsibility to the end. Citizens should refrain from downloading the application or supporting the developers in any way. If anyone has downloaded the app, they should delete it immediately and not take legal risks.
