62-year-old renowned Taiwanese musician Tu Ying passed away on the morning of the 1st after falling on a treadmill and being rushed to the hospital. Singers such as JJ Lin, Valen Hsu, Phil Chang, and Tracy Huang expressed their grief online for this musical talent. In fact, Tu Ying also held another role—as a musician for diva Chyi Yu’s Guangzhou tour. His sudden passing caused the concert to be postponed urgently. Wu Qingfeng, who was originally scheduled to be a guest at the concert that night, also mourned him with a black background and white text in response to the sudden tragic news.

On October 30, Tu Ying posted his ticket from Taipei to Guangzhou on Weibo. On the morning of the 31st, he even shared a photo of himself using a treadmill at his hotel in Guangzhou, only to sadly pass away the following day after falling on the treadmill.

Tu Ying is regarded as one of the architects of the golden era of Mandopop, having arranged over 2,000 classic songs throughout his career. He seamlessly collaborated with many pop superstars, including Andy Lau, A-mei, Jacky Cheung, Faye Wong, Jeff Chang, and Winnie Hsin. His masterful arrangements shaped countless classic hits, with representative works including Jacky Cheung’s "Love Letter" and "Not Able to Forget You," Jeff Chang’s "Too Much," Faye Wong’s "Sky," Winnie Hsin’s "Taste," A-mei’s "Dream of Titanic," and Rainie Yang’s "Ambiguous," among many others.

Besides arrangements, Tu Ying has long served as music director for concerts of singers such as Jonathan Lee, Chyi Yu, and Winnie Hsin. He accompanied Jonathan Lee to Malaysia in mid-October to orchestrate the "Youth’s Fantastic Journey 3.0" concert. At the time, Tu Ying raved about Malaysian cuisine and likewise shared photos using the treadmill at his hotel, showing that he exercised regularly.

Tu Ying’s talents were also recognized by awards. In 1990, he won the Golden Melody Award for Best Arranger for "I’m a Person Who Doesn’t Like Liveliness," and in 2003, he won the TVB8 Golden Melody Award for Best Arranger. In 2009, his piano album "Strolling in Ancient Capital" was nominated for the Golden Melody Award for Best Composer.

Recently, Wu Qingfeng released a new duet with Chyi Yu called "A Thought Apart." The pair was originally set to perform together at Chyi Yu’s concert on the night of the 1st, but could not due to the tragedy. Wu wrote in his Instagram stories: “Dear Teacher Tu, we were supposed to perform together tonight. Maybe Heaven needed beautiful music even more. Thank you for always taking care of me. Every time we worked together, I felt your warmth. Thank you for all you brought us... I really miss tasting your delicious cooking, really want to hear you play and perform together again...”
