(Miri, 19th) In response to feedback from the Pujut Garden Neighbourhood Committee and residents, Sarawak Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting has secured RM150,000 for the bumiko Garden covered basketball court to assist with repairing and repainting the floor, replacing the basketball frames, and adding benches for spectators.

Sebastian Ting's service team, led by the Chief of Youth of Sarawak United People's Party Piasau branch and Miri City Councillor Leslie Lau, along with Miri City Council's Engineering Department officials, visited the Pujut Garden covered basketball court to understand the upcoming construction plan.

Leslie Lau stated that Sebastian Ting secured the RM150,000 grant through the 2024 Rural Transformation Programme after it was approved in April last year. The project, which includes repairing and refurbishing the court floor, basketball frames, and adding spectator benches, will commence soon.

He mentioned that previously the basketball court had issues like floor cracks. As a result, YB Sebastian Ting, after receiving feedback from residents, aided in applying for the Rural Transformation Programme grant last year to implement this repair project.

Leslie Lau hopes that local residents will make good use of the facilities for basketball sports or competitions, social gatherings, and various healthy activities. With the addition of these new facilities, it is believed that users will enjoy greater convenience and promote a healthy lifestyle through sports.

The construction project at Pujut Park is funded with RM470,000 granted under the 2021 Rural Transformation Programme by Datuk Sebastian Ting, which includes the covered basketball court and construction of a storage room costing RM350,000, additional children's entertainment facilities and fitness equipment costing RM120,000, and an RM80,000 concrete drain cover project approved in 2022 through the Rural Transformation Programme.
