(Bandar Seri Begawan, 5th) The Brunei Ministry of Education, through its Special Education Department (JPK) and the Centre for the Development of Intelligence, Wisdom and Talent in Education (EDGE), has coordinated the participation of two students and an education officer in the 18th International Science Youth Forum (ISYF 2026) to be held in 2026.
This forum is organized by Hwa Chong Institution (College Section), Singapore, with support from the Singapore Ministry of Education, and will be held from January 5th to 9th, 2026 at Hwa Chong Institution.
The two students representing Brunei are Year 12 students from Jerudong International School (JIS), both of whom are recipients of the national Special Scholarship Scheme (Pre-University Scholarship Programme). They are Mohamad Ayub and Hamizah Amira.
Meanwhile, education officer Rozie Suzana from the EDGE Centre and JPK will accompany the students as their instructor and participant in this event.
The Acting Director of Special Education, Mussadaza, personally saw them off at Brunei International Airport.
Officials from EDGE Centre, Ministry of Education, as well as the students’ parents and relatives also came to see them off.
This year’s forum, themed “Curiosity Unlocked: How Questions Drive Discovery in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”, aims to provide a platform for 16- to 17-year-old students to interact with Nobel laureates and leading scientists in the field.
In addition, the forum will enrich and enhance teachers’ teaching abilities through sharing sessions and visits, such as tours of the National University of Singapore, Science Centre Singapore, and ArtScience Museum.
Through dialogues and masterclasses with Nobel laureates, renowned scientists, and experts in the field, the event seeks to strengthen connections and collaboration among educators, laying foundations for the future.
During the forum, participants will have opportunities to join dialogues and masterclasses, science explorations, Singapore discovery tours, cultural exhibitions, and poster exhibitions, among other activities.
Additionally, students representing the National University of Singapore will showcase a research poster titled “AI-Based Forewing Geometry Shape Optimization for Drag Reduction” in the poster exhibition session.
