Japanese actress Miho Nakayama passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54 due to an accident while bathing. It's been four days since the sad news broke, and former close friend Shizuka Kudo has finally spoken out to mourn her. Miho and Shizuka, who are of similar age and debuted around the same time, became friends after working together on a film. However, they later fell out due to Shizuka's ambiguous interactions with Miho's boyfriend, Toshihiko Tahara, causing a rift between the two women that showed signs of thawing only in recent years. Shizuka expressed her disbelief and shock over Miho's sudden passing, reminiscing about Miho's smile that made everyone feel at ease, and prayed for her peace.
After their debuts, Miho and Shizuka often appeared together on music shows, and became close friends following their 1987 joint appearance in the drama "Born to Be Together," frequently going on drives together. In January 1991, Miho was reported to be in a romantic relationship with popular idol Toshihiko Tahara, with photos capturing them vacationing in Hawaii. Around the same time, Toshihiko and Shizuka played lovers in a special New Year's drama segment on Fuji Television, sharing a kiss. It seemed they had unresolved feelings, later holding hands during a singing show, which infuriated Miho upon witnessing it. This led to a fallout with Toshihiko and the end of Miho's friendship with Shizuka.
Rumors of their estrangement persisted for 30 years until May 2022, when Miho was asked on a program which idol singer she was on good terms with. She immediately mentioned "Shizuka Kudo," recounting, "The longest ride was probably to Yokohama, to Harbor View Hill Park. It must have been with her (Shizuka Kudo) driving." Unfortunately, just as signs of reconciliation appeared between the former close friends, Miho suddenly passed away. #
