The latest data shows that by the end of last year, there were 78.336 million members of the Communist Youth League of China (referred to as the Communist Youth League) in China, a net increase of more than 3.02 million compared to the end of 2024.
According to Xinhua News Agency, data released by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League on Sunday (May 3) show that as of the end of December 2025, there were 78.336 million Communist Youth League members in China, organized into 5.15 million organizations, increases of 3.018 million members and 753,000 organizations respectively over the end of 2024. In 2025, 9.137 million new members were recruited.
Among these, there are 3,000 local league committees, 199,000 grassroots league (work) committees, 139,000 league general branches, and 4.809 million league branches. School youth league organizations number 2.355 million, with 41.833 million members; government organs and public institutions have 347,000 organizations and 3.798 million members; state-owned and collective enterprises have 271,000 organizations and 2.818 million members; urban streets, townships, communities, and administrative villages have 954,000 organizations and 23.917 million members; new and other emerging fields and sectors have 1.223 million organizations, with 5.97 million members.
According to the official website of the Communist Youth League, the League is a mass youth organization for advanced youth under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and serves as the assistant and reserve force of the Communist Party of China. The leading national body of the Communist Youth League is the National Congress of the League and its resulting Central Committee.
The National Congress of the Communist Youth League takes place every five years, convened by the Central Committee; under special circumstances it may be held earlier or postponed. When the congress is not in session, the Central Committee implements the resolutions of the National Congress and leads all work of the Communist Youth League.
