(Bandar Seri Begawan, 19th) Brunei Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) is pleased to announce that the national swimming team will represent Brunei in two prestigious international events held in Singapore.
With Aewon's generous sponsorship, seven talented youth swimmers will participate in the 47th Southeast Asian Age Group (SEAAG) Swimming Championships, taking place in Singapore from June 25 to 27, 2025. This team includes Zeke Chan, Danniel Chan, Dylan Wong, Asher Nathan Liw, Elyas Muqry Muhd Huzaimi, Sharmeen binti Mohammad Mharvin, and Abbey Wong.
They will depart on June 23, led by team leader Muhammad Isa Ahmad, a former Olympian, and coach Hu Na.
Danniel Chan, Elyas Muqry Muhd Huzaimi, and Asher Nathan Liw will make their international debut at the championships, marking an exciting milestone.
Moreover, the World Swimming Championships will hold its swimming events from July 27 to August 3, 2025. The Brunei team consists of four members: Haziq Samil, Joel Ling, Zeke Chan, and Sharmeen binti Mohammad Mharvin.
They will depart on July 24, accompanied by team leader (former national swimmer) Christian Nichols and coach Wu Na.
The Brunei National Swimming Association extends heartfelt gratitude to Aewon, Brunei's leading apparel and embroidery brand, for sponsoring the official team uniforms for both events. Aewon's mission is "to create opportunities to lead Brunei onto the world stage with quality products, services, and values, embodying the spirit of a quality nation." By providing the uniforms, Aewon has strengthened the team’s unity, pride, and shared identity — an invaluable support for the swimmers, especially the newcomers.
Brunei Swimming Association Honorary Secretary Hong Ming Xiang stated: "Aewon's support is more than just T-shirts; it’s a true testament of trust. It shows our swimmers that they are part of a community that believes in them.
Every time they put on that T-shirt, they will feel the pride of representing Brunei. We sincerely thank Aewon for instilling a sense of unity and courage in our athletes."
As our team progresses to the Southeast Asian Swimming Championships and the World Championships, we earnestly invite the Bruneian people to cheer them on. Let us come together to support our swimmers, celebrating their dedication, sportsmanship, and the pride they bring to our nation.
