A 62-year-old Thai man was arrested by police after claiming to have a bomb in his carry-on luggage on an AirAsia flight from Phuket on the 23rd, causing a false alarm.
According to the "Phuket News," the incident occurred at 3:17 PM on flight FD3092, which was originally scheduled to depart from Phuket to Bangkok Don Mueang Airport.
Reportedly, as the plane was preparing to take off and was taxiing from gate 1, the man named Thanawat told a flight attendant to "be careful of the bomb in his black shoulder bag."
The crew immediately informed the captain, who aborted the takeoff and returned the plane to gate 39.
After passengers disembarked, the airport's bomb disposal unit conducted a thorough inspection of the plane and luggage but found no bomb.
Thanawat was arrested on the spot by police. Authorities charged him with spreading false information and causing public panic, which is considered a serious crime in Thailand, especially at airports or on airplanes.
Phuket airport officials confirmed that the flight resumed after security checks were completed.
