The Chinese Embassy in Japan issued another reminder on Friday, stating that in recent years, Japan's public security environment has continued to deteriorate. It reminds Chinese citizens in Japan to effectively enhance their safety awareness, strengthen self-protection, try to go out in groups, and avoid going to areas with poor security or crowded places.
The embassy pointed out that in recent years, Japan's social security environment has continued to worsen. According to statistics from the Japan National Police Agency, from 2021 to 2025, the number of criminal cases in Japan suspected of violating the penal code has increased year by year, rising from 568,000 cases to 774,000 cases. Serious crimes such as murder, robbery, arson, rape, trafficking, and molestation have increased from 8,821 cases to 15,086 cases, an increase of about 71%.
Recently, a serving member of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces climbed over the wall with a knife and broke into the Chinese Embassy in Japan, right-wing elements openly harassed Chinese citizens watching a marathon, Chinese students in Tokyo were rammed by so-called "running into people gangs" on the streets, and Hong Kong tourists were assaulted in a restaurant in Hokkaido. These cases reflect that domestic right-wing forces in Japan are becoming increasingly rampant, discrimination cases targeting Chinese citizens have significantly increased, and the security risks for Chinese citizens in Japan are on the rise.
The Chinese Embassy in Japan solemnly reminds Chinese citizens in Japan to effectively heighten their awareness of safety precautions, strengthen self-protection, try to go out together, and avoid visiting areas with poor security or crowded places. If harassed or provoked by right-wing elements or "running into people gangs," please prioritize your own safety, stay calm, avoid entanglement, make sure to preserve evidence, call the police in a timely manner, and contact the Chinese embassy or consulate in Japan for assistance.
