Super Junior (SJ) member Shindong revealed his relationship on the program “Strong Heart” back in 2010, confessing to his then-girlfriend and making a marriage promise. However, the relationship did not come to fruition, and he admitted breakup not long after. Since then, there have been various rumors saying he was 'married and divorced' or 'already married.' Recently, as he took on a new hosting gig, he suddenly blurted out, 'I'm divorced now,' once again causing a stir on Korean social media.
Shindong recently started hosting a new web show, inviting fellow SJ members Kyuhyun and Eunhyuk as guests, along with TVXQ's Yunho for support and 'Single's Inferno' breakout star Lee Si-an. The show’s concept is casual, chatting over drinks with no taboo topics. As the guests had a few glasses, they opened up, and Lee Si-an directly asked Shindong: 'Senior, since we've had a few drinks, I want to ask, weren’t you married?' To everyone's surprise, Shindong replied seriously, 'Yes, I’m divorced now.' His shocking answer made Lee Si-an laugh out loud on the spot.
This conversation quickly sparked heated discussion on Korean forums, even topping entertainment news sections. In fact, back in 2010 on 'Strong Heart,' Shindong proposed to his then-girlfriend: 'I don’t have much and I’m still young. I’m not a famous celebrity, but I want to get married. Next week, both families are supposed to meet.' SM Entertainment confirmed it at the time, saying, 'It’s true the parents were supposed to meet, but the schedules haven’t matched, so they haven’t met yet,' clarifying that marriage was not imminent but the relationship was serious. Soon after, the romance quietly ended. Shindong later joked about it candidly on 'Running Man,' saying: 'I almost got married once.' He's been open about his past love life.
