Muhyiddin: For Bersatu's Future, Though Regrettable, Had No Choice But to Expel Certain Leaders

(Kuala Lumpur, 1st) Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin admitted that he was not happy about expelling party leaders, but emphasized that this was a necessary action for the party's struggle and future.

“I am not happy about this because they should have fought together, but they have strayed from their original purpose!”

Muhyiddin pointed this out when he attended Bersatu Negeri Sembilan's Ramadan event on Saturday night (February 28).

He stressed that Bersatu has its own rules and constitution, and if anyone acts in violation of the party constitution, the party cannot ignore it.

He said that Bersatu had no choice but to expel them.

“They are among the highest leaders in the party and hold good positions, so they should help strengthen the party, but their actions have damaged the party. Their expulsion is regrettable.”

“The supreme council was forced to take action to prevent the ‘virus’ because it had to be stopped. Therefore, the deputy president and others also faced action.”

On another note, Muhyiddin said he himself did not know whether more leaders might be expelled, as that is the work of the party's disciplinary committee.

“I do not know, because it is under the disciplinary committee. If any member is found to have violated the party constitution or committed misconduct, a report can be made to the disciplinary committee. That is the procedure.”

He said that after the disciplinary committee receives a complaint, they will study it and then decide whether to summon the person concerned or take direct action.
