(Miri, 14th) Li Bin Raman stated that the government will continue to follow up and support the development of the 'Sarawak Youth Startup Program (SYStartUP)' participants, encouraging youths to venture into industry-based entrepreneurship, including TVET skill fields, heavy industry-related sectors, and technological development, in order to enhance business competitiveness and sustainable growth.

Speaking at the 2026 Northern Sarawak SYStartUP Meet & Greet held at Imperial Palace Hotel today, he pointed out that the event, hosted by MYSED, aims to continuously track the business progress of Cohort 1 and Cohort 2 participants, understand their challenges and work together to find solutions, while also strengthening network links among participants, mentors, government agencies, and the private sector. The event attracted over 50 young entrepreneurs and alumni.

Li Bin Raman said that the government ensures uninterrupted support for participants through regular 'Meet & Greet' sessions and on-site visits, and will continue to organize similar gatherings and visits in various districts and counties to help participants solve practical issues such as licensing, equipment, market access, digitalization, and brand building. He encouraged participants to update their progress regularly, and those who are actively engaged will be given priority in future entrepreneurship support and resource match-up initiatives.

He also shared success stories, stating that some participants started with small-scale family production, gradually improved their packaging, quality, and marketing, and successfully expanded their products beyond Sarawak, proving that 'trusting the process' and steady progression can lead to growth. He reminded entrepreneurs to pay attention to accounting, talent management, and cash flow, and to take advantage of festive seasons and digital marketing, such as using online platforms to reach more customers.

In addition, he revealed that the department is preparing for the SYStartUP Entrepreneurship Awards and a more systematic support mechanism, providing incentives and resource pairing based on participants' activeness and progress; in the future, cross-state learning visits may be arranged to allow participants to study mature business models elsewhere and enhance their capabilities.

He also solemnly reminded participants to be wary of commercial scams, including fake consultants, fraudulent contracts, and license-brokering scams. Any 'too good to be true' offers of cooperation should be verified with the department or secretariat to avoid losses.
