An Indian man suffered a fatal accident while carrying oil and participating in a traditional blessing fire-walking ceremony. He fell unexpectedly, causing a fireball explosion that resulted in severe burns over his body. Despite emergency treatment in hospital, he was declared dead, leaving his newlywed wife heartbroken.

According to Indian media reports, a 28-year-old man, Devaraju, returned to his hometown in Kidigalu village, Bellary, Karnataka, on June 27, along with his new wife to celebrate 'Muharram' and participate in the traditional Alayi Kuni blessing fire-walking ceremony. During the ritual, he accidentally fell into the fire pit while carrying oil, leading to the tragic incident.

According to local custom, participants in this traditional fire-blessing ceremony must be barefoot or quickly leap across the flames, demonstrating their religious devotion.

Footage that has surfaced online shows the victim emotionally charged, raising a torch high in his right hand and carrying a canister of oil in his left hand as he speeds across a narrow pit filled with burning coals. As he reaches the middle, he appears to lose his balance and falls forward, spilling the oil canister and instantly triggering a massive fireball that engulfs him. Cheers turn to horrified screams as the accident unfolds. Bystanders and event staff immediately rush into the flames to pull him from the blazing fire.

The man was quickly taken to the local hospital for emergency care, and then transferred to a large hospital ICU for further rescue efforts due to the severity of his injuries. However, his body suffered extensive burns and, after struggling for 24 hours, he was sadly pronounced dead the next day.

It is reported that the deceased had only been married since last year and had specially brought his wife to this major traditional festival in hopes that participating in the sacred fire-walking ceremony would bring good fortune to his family and married life. Tragically, a deadly accident occurred in front of his friends and relatives, leaving his wife collapsed in tears, unable to accept that their happy family had come to such a sudden and tragic end.
