(Hanoi, 14th) According to a report from the Vietnam News Agency cited by Xinhua News Agency on Saturday, Typhoon 'Utip' has caused severe flooding in central Vietnam, resulting in at least 3 deaths.
The report states that two of the victims in Trieu Phong District, Quang Tri Province, died while participating in flood control efforts, and another person was swept away by floodwaters in Hai Lang District.
In the neighboring Quang Binh Province, 4 people are still missing, and search and rescue teams are expanding the search area as the weather gradually improves.
Floods have submerged over 21,000 hectares of rice fields, as well as thousands of hectares of vegetable plots and aquaculture ponds, with tens of thousands of poultry dead.
The severe flooding has also resulted in houses being submerged, traffic disruptions, and has forced residents from low-lying and mountainous areas to evacuate. Although water levels in some rivers have begun to recede, the situation remains dire.
