(Bandar Seri Begawan, 10th) Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), through its alumni association UniALUMNI, held an exclusive "Coffee with the Vice-Chancellor: Alumni Series" event, inviting a select group of UBD alumni to engage in in-depth discussions with Vice-Chancellor Dr. Hazri.
This event brought together 10 alumni, who have now become professionals and practitioners in their respective fields, to share their life and career journeys with UBD. The panel discussion format fostered meaningful dialogue, allowing alumni to exchange ideas, reflect on their development post-graduation, and explore emerging issues related to their professional areas.
This dialogue also provided alumni with the opportunity to learn directly from the Vice-Chancellor, gain insights into UBD’s strategic direction and latest developments, and deepen their understanding of the university’s future vision. The interaction strengthened the alumni’s shared sense of belonging to their alma mater, while also demonstrating their willingness to maintain ties with the university after graduation.
"This event has now become the third component of Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s 'Journey of the Future' programme. The initiative aims to showcase alumni life stories, reflect UBD’s values, and highlight its contributions to the nation through podcasts, storytelling, and leadership training. The programme seeks to enhance alumni identity and influence through creative narratives, professional dialogues, and leadership engagement.
The 'Journey of the Future' programme consists of three interrelated components:
- Alumni Life Journey: Celebrating personal and professional stories that embody UBD's values of knowledge transfer and national service, with a focus on alumni contributions in education, research, advocacy, and community building.
- Alumni Entrepreneurship Journey: Highlighting alumni entrepreneurs and innovators, telling their entrepreneurial journeys, challenges, and achievements, while also promoting alumni businesses and UBD’s role in the nation's economic growth.
- 'Coffee with the Vice-Chancellor: Alumni Series': Providing a platform for alumni to share career experiences, communicate directly with the Vice-Chancellor, and strengthen ties with their alma mater through dialogue and inspirational sharing.
