Rainie Yang’s Singapore Concert Cancelled for the Second Time, Fans Demand Reimbursement for Flights and Hotels

Concert called off just one week before! Rainie Yang’s Singapore stop on her tour has been cancelled for the second time. Furious fans flooded the organizer’s social media platforms, demanding reimbursement for plane tickets and hotel accommodation.

Taiwanese singer Rainie Yang’s "Elephant in the Room" world tour kicked off in Nanchang, Jiangxi on December 31, 2025, and has since made stops in cities such as Foshan, Shaoxing, and Suzhou. She just performed in Chengdu on March 28, with the next stop originally scheduled for Singapore on April 11, then Hefei, China on May 2.

A week before the Singapore concert, one of the organizers—FriedRice Entertainment—unexpectedly announced on the evening of April 3 via Facebook and IG that Rainie Yang’s concert scheduled for April 11 at The Star Theatre in Singapore was cancelled.

The organizers explained in the notice that “due to stage hardware lifting technology issues that could not be adapted to the venue to complete the full stage and lift installation.” To ensure the integrity and safety of the stage, the organizers decided, after careful consideration, to cancel the show.

The announcement also mentioned that ticket holders would receive full refunds through the official ticketing platform, with further details of the refund process to be announced separately. In conclusion, the organizers apologized for the inconvenience and thanked fans for their understanding and support.
In fact, Rainie Yang has a history of cancelling Singapore concerts. In 2024, she was scheduled to hold her “Like A Star” world tour at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on August 24, but the concert was called off two weeks prior. The then organizer BT Mediaspace gave the reason as “force majeure circumstances that could not be resolved in a short time.” Reportedly, BT Mediaspace is also one of the organizers for the current “Elephant in the Room” Singapore tour stop.

Rainie Yang’s concert being suddenly cancelled again has not only sparked speculation from netizens about ticket sales issues but also enraged fans who had been waiting for a long time.

Some fans commented on Rainie Yang’s SuperTopic on Weibo: “The concert is next week, and you just cancel it? Do you take fans for granted? And the Singapore stop has been cancelled two times in a row now. If it really is because of stage and lifting technology issues, we don’t need any stage. We just want to see Rainie Yang herself.”

Meanwhile, many netizens flooded FriedRice Entertainment’s IG with comments. Some wondered, “Is it the organizer’s fault or the singer’s fault?” Others tagged Rainie Yang directly, writing: “Can you explain yourself in person? Didn’t you say you were looking forward to seeing your Singapore fans? I just want to see you perform.”

Among them, overseas fans specifically demanded reimbursement from the organizer for plane tickets and hotel expenses incurred for the concert. Some netizens compared this with a recent mainland Chinese singer Joker Xue’s incident—in Guangzhou, his concert effects were affected by heavy rain last weekend; he not only apologized to the audience but also announced full refunds in addition to compensation for flight and hotel expenses.

Regarding the issue of reimbursing flight and hotel expenses for overseas fans, reporters tried contacting FriedRice Entertainment on the morning of April 4, but had not received a reply as of press time. At the same time, Rainie Yang herself and her studio also have not made any comment on the cancellation.

Netizens Flood Organizer’s IG: Fans Will Still Watch Even Without a Stage

: I’m really curious whether this is the organizer’s fault or the singer’s fault? This is the second time it’s happened—it’s truly unacceptable. My sympathies to those coming from other countries who have already booked flights and hotels. Given this last-minute situation, the organizer should take responsibility and offer refunds to those who made arrangements.

_lawtc_: The show is in just one week, and you only inform us of the cancellation now? Do you know how many people are flying into Singapore from overseas? Flights and hotels—not a small sum. You just post a notice and cancel, have you ever thought about how consumers feel? So who takes responsibility for this spending? This kind of organizer is really untrustworthy.

the_leaf_stories: Last time at the Indoor Stadium you could still make excuses, but this time it’s at The Star Theatre! The Star itself is like a banquet hall, everyone knows. All expectations were simply to support an idol, just to listen to music. It’s not a proper venue for building big stages. I hope this cancellation won’t lead to Rainie getting attacked by cyberbullies—rational people know this isn’t a decision the artist can make. The organizer should be deeply self-reflective instead.

kkkevenyln: But lots of singers have shows with unsold tickets and they still go on—with discounts, upgrades, and promotions like blind box tickets, or the singer can even take a pay cut so the show can go ahead at a loss. That’s much more sincere than just cancelling at will… You’d think after last time you’d want to make amends this time instead of repeating the mistake.

_misterben: Fans will still watch even if there’s no stage! You’d save more money anyway and don’t have to transport staging.

cindy_xinyi: The concert is next week. You say it’s cancelled now? My flights and hotels have all been booked. Please reimburse me, thank you.
