(USA, 12th) A stabbing incident occurred in New York City, USA. A man attacked passengers on the platform at Grand Central Station, injuring at least three people before he was shot dead by police.
New York City Police stated that the suspect was a 44-year-old man, Anthony Griffin. Police emphasized that the incident was not related to terrorism.
According to the police report, at around 9:30 a.m. that day, the suspect took the No. 7 subway line from Queens. After the train arrived at Grand Central Station, he pulled out a machete on the platform and attacked passengers, then moved to the platforms for the 4, 5, and 6 subway lines to continue his assault, injuring a total of three people.
The three victims sustained serious injuries, but are currently in stable condition and receiving treatment at the hospital.
Police arrived at the scene at around 9:30 a.m. Two plainclothes detectives on duty found one of the injured nearby. Police noted that the suspect was behaving abnormally at the time and claimed to be "Lucifer."
The officers ordered him to drop his knife at least 20 times, but the suspect refused and approached them with the blade. Eventually, one of the detectives fired two shots, killing him. Police said the suspect had three prior criminal records in New York City.
