In the beautifully decorated city center, thousands of people flocked to the grand square to witness the traditional birthday parade, expressing their love and loyalty to the monarch as well as patriotic enthusiasm.
This event marks the start of the celebrations for His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei's 79th birthday.
At 6:30 am, hundreds of students lined the main streets, waving miniature national flags joyfully to the beat of drums, showcasing magnificent national spirit.
His Majesty the Sultan graced the square to preside over the parade, joined by the Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, and other royal family members at this grand and solemn ceremony.
Foreign guests, diplomatic envoys to Brunei, palace ministers, government cabinet ministers, senior government officials, representatives of non-governmental organizations, and representatives of the Chinese community were all invited to attend.
After the playing of the Brunei national anthem and a 21-gun salute, His Majesty the Sultan rode in the royal car to inspect the 1,251-member guard of honor formed by uniformed personnel from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Royal Brunei Police Force, accompanied by the military and police brass band.
His Majesty the Sultan then rode in a special royal vehicle to review contingents from the Customs Department, Prisons Department, Immigration Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Aviation Department, Red Crescent Society, and the Girl Guides Association.
Afterward, to the music of the military and police brass band, the tri-services guard of honor began their slow and quick marches in the square, receiving a salute from His Majesty the Sultan.
Upon completion of the march, the tri-services guard of honor and other contingents present shouted three times, “Long live the King!”, with the cries resonating across the sky.
At that moment, helicopters from the Royal Brunei Air Force flew over the square trailing colored smoke, marking a grand celebration of the Sultan's 79th birthday, and concluding the birthday parade ceremony.
