(Miri, 4th) The Chairman of Pei Min Middle School Board of Directors, Khor Ooi Long, stated that the school's lion dance fundraising was affected due to continuous heavy rain during the Chinese New Year period causing floods. As of now, the fundraising amount has decreased by more than 30% compared to the same period in previous years.
Khor Ooi Long, in an interview while leading the Pei Min Lion Dance Troupe to pay a Chinese New Year visit to United Daily News, expressed hope for more support from the Chinese community to help the school achieve its fundraising goal to maintain the daily operational expenses of Pei Min.
He added that in previous years, the lion dance troupe would visit areas like Batu Niah , Suai, Bekenu, Marudi, and oil palm plantations for fundraising, but this year, the continuous rain causing floods prevented the team from visiting these areas, indirectly affecting the fundraising results.
Currently, the fundraising amount by the school's lion dance troupe is still at least 30% less compared to past years. Therefore, he urges the Chinese community to actively support and help Pei Min raise the necessary funds.
