Former Japanese table tennis player Ai Fukuhara’s extramarital affair with the so-called “Yokohama man” came to light in 2021. She subsequently ended her five-year marriage with Taiwanese table tennis star Chiang Hung-chieh, with their international legal battle only officially concluding in March 2024. Recently, Fukuhara appeared in an interview with Japanese media, visibly pregnant, and for the first time confirmed that she has tied the knot this summer with the man previously known to the public as “Yokohama man,” while also welcoming her third child.
Now 37 years old, Fukuhara suffered a major blow to her public image when her affair was exposed. After her marriage ended, she returned to Japan, shifted her focus to new media, and gradually prioritized her career in China. She became active in short-form video creation and social networking, making efforts to interact with her fans. According to a report by Japanese media outlet Josei Seven, Fukuhara gave an interview as an expectant mother, personally confirming that she and “Mr. A,” who has accompanied her on this journey, officially registered their marriage earlier this summer. She admitted that she never imagined she would remarry when they first started dating, saying, “Even I’m surprised at how things have turned out.” Still, she cheerfully shared, “I’m really happy that we can welcome a new life into our family.”
Fukuhara and her ex-husband Chiang Hung-chieh have two children. Now pregnant with her third, Fukuhara laughed and said, “Everyone says I shouldn’t worry about a third child, but that’s not true. This is my first time giving birth in Japan, and the hospitals here are completely different from those in Taiwan, so I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed.”
