(Bandar Seri Begawan, 7th) Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) continues to strengthen its role in promoting inclusive entrepreneurship by providing comprehensive support to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), covering all stages of their business development.
BIBD systematically assesses each company's unique strengths and customer value proposition to better understand entrepreneurs and provide targeted and effective support.
This includes evaluating the alignment between a company's products and services with its vision, execution capability, delivery timeline, and the level of effort required from customers—all benchmarked against market conditions.

Mohd Isa Liu, Head of BIBD’s MSME Division, said, “Before we discuss financing, we prefer to first engage in communication to understand your company’s situation. This allows us to participate more deeply and help your company establish a solid foundation to support future development.”
He shared these insights during the panel discussion at the recent launch event of “Looking Forward: The State of Inclusive Business in Brunei” and emphasized the bank’s ongoing commitment to cultivating an inclusive and resilient MSME ecosystem in Brunei.
This event marks the official launch of a nationwide study aimed at assessing the status of inclusive businesses and social enterprises in Brunei. The study, initiated in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), is designed to identify opportunities, assess enabling ecosystems and formulate strategic recommendations to advance inclusive business practices, thereby supporting Brunei’s socio-economic development and its “Brunei Vision 2035”.

BIBD SEED is dedicated to empowering individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, with particular focus on women and aspiring entrepreneurs. The program provides comprehensive training, necessary resources, and specialized support to help participants establish sustainable businesses in Brunei and create lasting socio-economic impact.
The TUNAS project is a retail platform created in collaboration between Brunei’s Ministry of Home Affairs and the bank, aimed at boosting the development of home-based and sole proprietorship enterprises run by low-income individuals. Through an exclusive marketplace, the project enables entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products, and build confidence on the entrepreneurial journey. As a partner, the bank supports the Ministry of Home Affairs to advance this initiative, drive grassroots entrepreneurship, help sole proprietors grow, and contribute to Brunei’s inclusive economic development.
BIBD Connects is a corporate social responsibility initiative designed to provide market access and visibility to Brunei’s micro, small, home-based, startup, and young enterprises. Its goal is to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to display and sell products, strengthen grassroots enterprise, build confidence, promote inclusivity, and encourage community engagement. BIBD Connects combines financial solutions with real market opportunities to support sustainable growth and contribute to Brunei Darussalam’s national development goals under the “Brunei Vision 2035”.

BIBD Mega Karnival is one of Brunei’s largest platforms for MSMEs, startups, and young enterprises, serving as a strategic growth accelerator that showcases local entrepreneurial spirit, enhances brand visibility, promotes collaboration, fosters community pride, and supports the achievement of inclusive and sustainable development goals under the “Brunei Vision 2035”.
BIBD’s core financial solutions further strengthen these initiatives by providing MSMEs with convenient business banking services and Shariah-compliant financing to meet their growth needs. The BIBD MSME account helps small enterprises standardize operations, simplify transactions, and build credibility in the market.
Furthermore, financing solutions such as working capital support and asset financing enable businesses to expand responsibly, invest in productivity improvements, and enhance resilience.
This event brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and finance to introduce the concept of inclusive business, gather insights, and strengthen cooperation to build a more inclusive and sustainable economic landscape. The event was co-organized by the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), and United Nations ESCAP, with the support of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam—showcasing its commitment to advancing national development priorities.
