(Kuching, 25th) The Air Supply concert in Kuching was suddenly canceled, leaving the organizer Twig Events equally shocked. They reserve the right to take legal action. Twig Events pointed out that the appointed tour promoter—Galaxy World Entertainment Ltd—had not raised any operational concerns, and all preparations for the concert had been fully completed.
According to TVS 'Daily News' report, Twig Events event director Wong Ai Ning stated that the company only learned about the cancellation after Air Supply posted the news on Facebook. She described this as a "heavy blow" to them, as the team had spent months preparing for the event.
She clarified that from the very beginning, Twig Events never communicated directly with Air Supply but only through the contracted tour promoter, Galaxy World Entertainment.
"As the organizer, our responsibility is to manage the venue, logistics, and fan experience, while Galaxy World Entertainment is the contracted tour agent.
"Throughout the process, we never received any notice of issues. Whether it was stage construction, sound system, or food stalls, everything was fully prepared." Wong Ai Ning said this at a press conference held at Blessed Church on Wednesday (24th) night.
She emphasized that this last-minute cancellation not only disappointed the fans but also deeply frustrated Twig Events.
"Like the fans, we are shocked and angry. Everything was ready, but the concert was canceled due to factors beyond our control," she said.
Twig Events assured that their top priority now is to ensure all ticket holders receive a full refund. The refund process has been initiated through the original ticketing platform and is expected to be completed within 14 working days. Ticket buyers will receive instructions via email.
Additionally, the company has officially filed a complaint with the Association of Live Arts, Festivals and Events (ALIFE) Malaysia, urging authorities to establish clearer industry procedures to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
It is reported that representatives of Galaxy World Entertainment have arrived in Kuching and have met with Twig Events. However, Twig Events reiterated that, at this stage, the most important task is still to ensure that all fans receive their refunds smoothly.
"Our most important commitment is to protect fans' trust and maintain the integrity of live music events in Sarawak. Despite this setback, we will continue to work hard to bring world-class live performances to Sarawak," said Wong Ai Ning.
At 3:14 am yesterday, the Air Supply management team announced via their official social media page that the concert originally scheduled for that night in Kuching had been canceled due to "operational issues" by the promoter.
The management team also stated that they are working to reschedule and promised to notify fans as soon as new dates are confirmed.
Air Supply lead singer Russell C Hitchcock even commented: "We are arranging a new date... We were all ready to perform for our fans in Kuching... The cancellation has nothing to do with Air Supply... We are very sad about this cancellation."
