Recently, Liangshan Prefecture in Sichuan, China released the announcement for the open recruitment examination for public institution staff for the first half of 2026, with plans to hire 521 people. Among them, the 'broadcast television transmission coverage' position at Liangshan Prefecture Mofoshan Radio and Television Relay Station is recruiting only one person, and a special job description in the recruitment conditions quickly became a hot topic on the internet.

This position clearly states that the workplace is the mountain-top equipment room on Mofoshan in Zhaojue County, Liangshan Prefecture, at an altitude of 3,614 meters, with no residents within a 10-kilometer radius, requiring applicants to be in good health and have no high-altitude reaction. Eligible applicants must be born on or after March 17, 1992 (i.e., under 34 years old). For undergraduates, the required majors include electronic information engineering, electronic science and technology, communications engineering, etc., and for postgraduates, majors include communication and information systems, signal and information processing, computer application technology, etc. The position is open to candidates from the entire province. The workplace is the mountain-top equipment room at an altitude of 3,614 meters in Zhaojue County, Liangshan Prefecture, with no residents within a 10-kilometer radius.

After the announcement on March 12, the position quickly sparked heated discussion among netizens. Many left comments such as: 'Especially suitable for people with social anxiety,' 'A dream job for the socially anxious,' 'Quiet environment, no one to disturb,' 'Nowhere to spend your salary,' 'Paradise for introverts.'

It is understood that the main duty of this position is to monitor equipment in the mountain-top equipment room, troubleshoot and repair faults independently when they occur, replace parts if possible, and send back to the factory if repairs cannot be accomplished. The equipment room has basic living amenities including water, electricity, and internet, and staff need to cook for themselves.

On March 17, a reporter from Red Star News inquired with the recruiting unit—Liangshan Prefecture Mofoshan Radio and Television Relay Station—as a prospective applicant. Staff members indicated that the unit has been operating on the mountain for decades and has a mature support process, so there is no need to be overly concerned about safety and living conditions. However, they also admitted that as the mountain is a closed environment, the living conditions are undoubtedly not as good as in the city.

This position operates on a shift system, usually requiring staff to be stationed on the mountain for no less than half a month each month. When not on the mountain, staff need to return to the workplace to assist with administrative and logistical work. The mountaintop is more than 10 kilometers from the county, and driving takes more than two hours.

On the morning of March 17, registration for the position officially opened. The recruiting unit said that there are currently many inquiries, showing that quite a few people are interested in this 'quiet' and unique position.

This recruitment information also allows the public to recognize the perseverance and challenges faced by remote high-altitude radio and television relay stations. Registration for public institution recruitment is expected to close soon. Eligible applicants can follow the official channels of the Organization Department of Liangshan Prefecture Party Committee and the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Liangshan Prefecture to register.
