(Kuching, 30th) The Sarawak government, through the Sarawak Ministry of Transport and the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM), will need to conduct a third-party asset audit and evaluation before taking over MASwings in the first quarter of 2025.

Premier  Sarawak  Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari stated that there are discrepancies in the valuation of MASwings between the two companies, necessitating a third-party audit to reassess its entire assets.

As such, he admitted that if there were no differences in asset valuation, the Sarawak government could have signed the sale agreement through the Sarawak Ministry of Transport by this month. Therefore, a third-party evaluation is required to fully take over MASwings.

He made these remarks in response to this issue when interviewed after attending the groundbreaking ceremony of the medical and commercial building project of the Sarawak Teochew Association's Pzi Jia Ge Kidney Foundation.

Nonetheless, he emphasized that the takeover process will certainly be completed by next year, expressing hope for it to be as soon as possible.

“It could be next month, or it could be completed in one or two months. It should be achievable by the first quarter of next year.”
