(Bandar Seri Begawan, 28th) The Industrial and Commercial Ecosystem Section (IBE), through the Weights and Measures Division (SDT) and the Department of Consumer Affairs, conducted a joint inspection and found that two commercial premises in Tutong District violated the Price Control Act.
According to a press release, these businesses were found selling regulated items at prices higher than the maximum allowed price and failing to display prices for certain products, violating Sections 3B and 5 of the Price Control Act.
As a result, enforcement officers issued two warning notices, reminding all retailers to adhere to the regulations.
During the joint operation, officers from the Weights and Measures Division also inspected 13 weighing machines at various premises and found that all the machines were accurate, properly verified, and registered according to the Weights and Measures Act 1983 and its provisions.
The Weights and Measures Division encourages consumers to ensure that weighing and measuring devices used in trade are registered with SDT and have valid registration labels.
Retailers are also reminded to clearly display prices and use the PenggunaBijak application to obtain the latest pricing information on controlled items.
For further inquiries, the public can contact the Weights and Measures Department at sdt@mofe.gov.bn or 233 4092, or contact the Department of Consumer Affairs through Talian Darussalam 123, the PenggunaBijak application, or by sending an email to consumercomplaint@jpes.gov.bn.
