Three fishermen went out to sea for fishing on January 9th and went missing after not returning home. After several days of searching, they were finally found safe and are currently in Indonesia.

Kedah and Perlis Maritime Enforcement Agency director, Rory Mustapha, stated in a press release that the Langkawi Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC) was notified at noon on Monday that the family members had made contact with the fishermen, confirming their safety and current location in Indonesia.

He stated that the agency subsequently reached out to the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency and confirmed that the three fishermen were rescued by Aceh fishermen and are in good condition.

He added that the agency will discuss with the National Search and Rescue Agency on repatriating the three fishermen. The search operation was officially concluded on Monday at 3:50 PM.

The three fishermen, Asru Hisham (47), his son Mohamad Aiman (16), and their worker Mohamad Amin (29), went missing after fishing near the waters of Pulau Payar on the 9th of this month.

The family members made numerous calls to them but received no response, leading them to file a police report. The Langkawi Maritime Rescue Sub Centre initiated a search, dispatching boats for the operation, with the police, fire department, and civil defense forces also participating.
