Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar said that the Cabinet will discuss guidelines to regulate Muslims' participation in various non-Muslim celebrations and ceremonies.

"We will discuss it in the Cabinet."

He stated this when asked about the statement by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Mohd Na'im, who indicated yesterday that the Islamic Development Department is finalizing guidelines to standardize Muslim participation in various non-Muslim celebrations and ceremonies, at an event in Putrajaya International Convention Centre today after attending the Government Companies Self-Audit System.

Mohd Na'im said that the document, named "Guidelines for Muslim Participation in Non-Muslim Celebrations and Funerals, and Participation in Activities Held in Non-Muslim Religious Venues" outlines matters concerning Muslims' involvement in non-Islamic celebrations to ensure no behaviors potentially offending Muslim sensitivities occur.

He gave examples such as performances or speeches that insult or mock Muslim beliefs, any missionary natured speeches or songs, the prohibition of displaying symbols or emblems of non-Islamic religions, and holding events during Muslim prayer times.

"Ceremony locations should not be near mosques, prayer rooms, Islamic cemeteries, or Islamic endowment lands (Tanah Wakaf)."
