Oregon Attorney General Rosenblum announced on the 28th that the state of Oregon and the city of Portland have filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in a local federal district court, aiming to stop the latter from 'illegally deploying' 200 Oregon National Guard members to the city of Portland.
Rosenblum said in a statement released on social media that earlier that day, U.S. Secretary of Defense Hagseth had sent a memorandum to Oregon Governor Kotek, authorizing 200 Oregon National Guard members to perform federal duties for 60 days, including 'protecting federal property that is under or potentially threatened by protest activities.'
U.S. President Trump announced on the 27th the deployment of troops to Portland, Oregon, a city governed by Democrats, in response to so-called 'domestic terrorists.' Previously, Trump had sent troops to Los Angeles and Washington, which met with strong opposition.
