Chinese Smartphones to See Collective Price Hike in March, Up to 25% Increase

According to comprehensive Chinese media reports, due to the continuous surge in memory chip prices, China's mobile phone industry will usher in the largest-scale and most significant collective price increase in March, and there may be several more price hikes this year. Market research agencies estimate that the prices of Chinese smartphones shipped in March will rise by 15% to 25%.

On the 26th, the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily reported that smartphone memory chip prices have risen for several consecutive quarters, with the increase expanding further this year. Multiple industry chain insiders have confirmed that current procurement costs for smartphone memory chips are already more than 80% higher than the same period last year, and there is no sign of slowdown yet. Due to this cost pressure, OPPO, OnePlus, vivo, Xiaomi, iQOO, Honor, and other mobile phone brands have planned to launch a new round of product price adjustments at the beginning of March.

The report says this will be the Chinese mobile phone industry’s largest and most significant collective price increase in the past five years. With frequent fluctuations in memory costs, China's mobile phone market may face the first situation in history of multiple price increases within one year in 2026.

Jiemian News pointed out that the Chinese mobile phone industry will officially usher in a comprehensive price hike in March. This is also the first time since the development of China’s mobile phone market that there has been a simultaneous price increase across all categories and all brands. The minimum price increase for new models will be more than 1,000 yuan (568 ringgit).

Market research firm Counterpoint Research predicts that after March, the average price of new smartphones in China's market will be 15% to 25% higher than models in the same tier in 2025.

"This round of price increases is not an individual brand’s choice, but an inevitable trend for the whole industry." An industry insider revealed that all major Chinese smartphone brands have finalized their price increase plans, and some brands have already issued price adjustment notifications to distributors and online channel partners.

According to the confirmed plans, March is the key time point for this wave of price increases. The price adjustments for models launched previously will be relatively mild, but for new products released after March, the price increase will be significantly larger, with the minimum increase for new models no less than 1,000 yuan, and for mid-to-high-end flagship models, the increase may reach 2,000 to 3,000 yuan (1,136 to 1,704 ringgit).
