(Indonesia, 17th) Suryacipta Swadaya (Suryacipta), a subsidiary of Surya Semesta Internusa (SSIA), has received a large number of land applications from Chinese investors this year.
This is mainly influenced by global and domestic economic factors as well as the situation in China itself.
Recently, Abednego Purnomo, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Tenant Relations at Suryacipta Swadaya, stated that from the beginning of this year to the first half of 2025, Suryacipta has successfully attracted seven investors from China.
Most of them are located in Subang Smartpolitan city, focusing on high-tech textile, apparel, and polymer industries.
Abednego told reporters that the remaining tenants are located in Suryacipta City of Industry Karawang, which mainly engages in logistics and IT equipment industries. "The main demand comes from automotive, electronics, consumer goods, textile, and apparel industries."
On the other hand, it is said that Chinese investors are seeking to expand or establish their businesses in Indonesia as they attempt to shield themselves from high US import tariffs.
The US imposes a 19% tariff on Indonesian goods, which is the same rate as for Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand, and slightly lower than Vietnam's 20%. Currently, the tariff on Chinese goods exceeds 30%.
Suryacipta believes that the increasing investment from China is a positive strategic phenomenon. This can provide important opportunities to accelerate Indonesia's industrial growth and consolidate its position in the global market through foreign direct investment.
In addition, although the scale of Chinese investment is substantial, the company does not view it as a dominant force but rather as a mutually beneficial strategic partnership.
He added that Subang Smartpolitan itself has already successfully attracted many Chinese investors, and currently, 70% of tenants in the area are from China. "This can prove to other countries that Indonesia has an ideal industrial ecosystem."
According to SSIA's corporate presentation, in the first half of 2025, Suryacipta's total land sales value reached 167 billion Rupiah.
He concluded that this year, Suryacipta has set a target to sell 137 hectares of land, of which 17 hectares are located in Suryacipta City of Industry Karawang and 120 hectares in Subang Smartpolitan. "Considering this is the potential of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Indonesia, the target is quite aggressive."
