Canadian media reported that a Canadian warship and an Australian warship entered the Taiwan Strait on the 6th.

According to Canadian CTV, data from the ships’ Automatic Identification System responders show that the Canadian frigate HMCS Quebec and the Australian guided-missile destroyer HMAS Brisbane entered the Strait.

The Canadian Department of National Defence has not confirmed whether the warships entered the Taiwan Strait, but a spokesperson for the Canadian Joint Operations Command stated that the command would issue a statement in Ottawa on the evening of the 6th local time.

Taiwan’s Liberty Times, citing information tracked by the military Facebook page TaiwanAdiz, reported that the two warships are currently continuing northbound east of the Taiwan Strait median line, with their destination still unclear.

The Liberty Times reported that this joint fleet, consisting of Canada and Australia, departed from the US military base at Subic Bay, Philippines at 9:30 am on September 2nd, choosing to sail east of the median line of the Taiwan Strait to deliberately avoid the territorial waters claimed by mainland China.
