On the 26th, South Korea's Prosecutor's Office Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law indicted Yoon Seok-yeol on charges of "allegedly inciting a rebellion."
Yoon Seok-yeol has become the first sitting president in South Korea's constitutional history to be indicted.
This indictment does not involve another charge against Yoon Seok-yeol of "abuse of power."
The prosecution stated that after a comprehensive review of the evidence material from the previous investigations and the case evidence transferred by the police, they believe it is indeed necessary to indict the defendant.
On the 23rd, the South Korean prosecution took over the case of Yoon Seok-yeol's alleged "inciting a rebellion and abuse of power" from the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials and twice applied to the Seoul Central District Court to extend Yoon Seok-yeol's detention, but both were dismissed.
On the 26th, after holding a meeting to discuss the follow-up handling of the case, the prosecution believed that there was a possibility of Yoon Seok-yeol destroying evidence and decided to indict him in custody before his detention period expires (27th).
