(Miri, 11th) A well-known KTV in Miri City was sealed off by law enforcement officers during a "Raid Operation" (Ops Gegar) the night before last, with 33 foreign female hostesses (GRO) arrested, including citizens from China, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
In addition, 7 Indonesian men were also arrested during the operation. This operation was jointly carried out by the Miri Immigration Enforcement Division and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), implemented around 10 p.m.
According to a statement from the Sarawak Immigration Department (JIM), inspections revealed that the entertainment venue was allegedly providing foreign female companionship entertainment services to customers.
The statement pointed out that the arrested individuals are suspected of multiple immigration offenses, including misuse of social visit visas, overstaying, and not possessing valid travel documents.
All those arrested have been sent to the Bekenu Immigration Detention Center, and the case is currently under further investigation based on the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963.
