(Kuching, 4th) The Japanese government has conferred the “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star” upon Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. This honor reflects his outstanding leadership and foresight in strengthening bilateral relations between Sarawak and Japan.
The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife Datuk Patinggi Faziah Mohamad Sanusi today extended their heartfelt congratulations to Abang Johari via an official post on the "Astana Sarawak" (Sarawak Palace) Facebook page.
The post states: “The Premier has spared no effort in advancing progressive development policies, especially in the areas of investment, green energy, and the digital economy, enabling Sarawak to achieve remarkable development milestones.
“Under his leadership, Sarawak has emerged as a progressive, competitive, and influential state in the region.”
Both also wished Abang Johari continued health, strength, and wisdom to lead Sarawak towards a future of sustained prosperity.
On Monday (November 3), Abang Johari was awarded the “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star” by the Emperor of Japan at the 2025 Autumn Decoration Ceremony for Foreign Recipients, in recognition of his contributions to fostering friendly relations between Sarawak and Japan.
