The statement reads: "The Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that Portugal will recognize the State of Palestine... the formal declaration of recognition will be issued on September 21, on the eve of next week’s United Nations high-level meeting."
In addition, French President Macron stated on social media on the evening of the 19th that when he spoke with Palestinian President Abbas that day, he reiterated that France will recognize the State of Palestine on September 22.
On the 18th, Macron stated in an interview with Israeli media that implementing the "two-state solution" is imperative, and recognizing the State of Palestine is "the best way to isolate the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)."
During the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, France and Saudi Arabia will jointly host an international conference on the implementation of the "two-state solution" at the UN headquarters in New York on September 22. At that time, France, the United Kingdom, Canada and 10 other countries will recognize the State of Palestine.
